Origins

Last Sunday, I went to the cemetery with a handful of people within my family. Anyway, I saw those marble tablets on the graves with names, dates and other info.

I saw my angkong's and amah's (the other one is still alive; long story, i didn't even know my angkong remaried.) and my a-peh gave me a small lecture while he was translating the marble slabs to me.

Aside from knowing that my paternal ancestors came from 福建省, 中国,  I know know where in Fujian they were from -- supposedly.

Under 福建,my 祖父 and 祖母 were supposedly from a place called 晋江. More specifically, it was in 沙塘。

Then my mom brought me to my maternal great uncle's (or was it my maternal great grandfather's) tomb thingy. I decided to check out the slab as well. He's also from 福建,DUH! in the same 晋江 region, but from a place called 店豆. Maternal ancestors are from China as well.

Many dates from the stone slabs (of my relatives) had "Born on *** during the reign of the Qing Dynasty, died on *** during the PRC." or something simmilar to that. This, along with their places of origin confirms that my blood vessels are unstained by any foreign blood and that I am pure Chinese.

Now I must uphold this by harnessing my skills (or lack of) in speaking Fookien and Mandarin.

Random Though: I wonder if my (our) ancestral home, or whatever house my ancestors once lived in is still in China. Do I have any relatives (that I do not know of) that reside there? hmm...

New Layout

I’ve finally accomplished making my first Xanga layout. WHOOT!

Hopefully, I can work on my LJ, Blogger and Tab as well.

Meaning.Of.Sid

Although the name Sid creates idealism and the urge to help others, we emphasize that it causes a restless intensity that defies relaxation.

(Oh really now? Hmm..)

This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the nervous system, and solar plexus.

(Probably, but I never really paid heed to that.)

Your name of Sid has many sterling qualities but does not give you an overall stability.

(True, True...)

You do everything with intensity to the point of fervor, and either you feel tremendous elation or you are in the depths of despair.

(Oh yes. I'm manic-depressive. It's either I'm HIGH or I'm DOWN.)

People often disappoint you because you are idealistic and are apt to place those whom you admire on a pedestal. Then you become disillusioned when they fall short of your expectations.

(Yes, I'm an envious person and my friends know that I've got TONS of role models-- only until i realize I'm better. ^^ )

You are quick mentally and like to see things moving at an accelerated pace. Patience is not one of your virtues; you want to move when the impulse strikes you.

(Yup, I don't like waiting)

While such spontaneity is fine at times, you must take account of conditions and employ careful analysis so as to avoid disastrous results such as accidents due to hasty actions.

(I make a lot of hasty decisions and actions.)

Most things you do, you do well, but as soon as the task, hobby, or job becomes familiar or routine, you are bored and crave a change.

(Yeah, you're right.)
